Container exports to the U.S. from 10 Asian economies plunged 31.5% year on year to 1,217,509 TEUs in March based on volumes at ports of origin, which have stayed on a downward trend for eight months in a row, Descartes Datamyne announced last week in reference to Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) and bill-of-lading (B/L) data provided by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP). In the first quarter (January-March), 3,829,501 TEUs were moved on the trade, which plummeted 25.9% from the corresponding three months of 2022.

Meanwhile, overall imports to the U.S. were also sluggish, decreasing a vast 26.3% to 1,855,787 TEUs, which have continued to decline for seven consecutive months. From a month earlier, however, they improved 6.7%, including a rise of 2.5% of those from Asia.
