The latest Korea Ocean Business Corporation (KOBC) Container Composite Index (KCCI) decreased 0.18% from the previous week to 1,638 points, the KOBC announced on Monday. On individual routes, indexes went down slightly on the routes from South Korea to east and west coasts of South America, while they were mostly bearish on others as well.

On east-west trades, freight rates declined 1.86% to $1,478 per FEU for containers to the west coast of North America, 2.4% to $2,972 per FEU for those to the east coast, 2.77% to $1,828 per FEU for those to Europe and 1.35% to $2,924 per FEU for those to the Mediterranean.

On north-south routes, freight rates slid 1.41% to $2,171 per FEU for shipments to the Middle East and 3.88% to $1,635 per FEU for those to Australia. In contrast, rates improved 0.18% to $1,648 per FEU for those to the east coast of South America. On the other hand, freight rates were sluggish on other routes, going down 1.46% to $1,599 per FEU for containers to the west coast of South America, 3.85% to $4,216 per FEU for those to southern Africa and 1.87% to $3,573 per FEU for those to western Africa.

Freight rates were stagnant across the board in intra-Asia waters. They waned 1.06% to $280 per FEU for exports to China, 0.26% to $765 per FEU for those to Japan and 1.5% to $1,244 per FEU for those to Southeast Asia.
