South Korea traded a total of 349,200 TEUs of containers with eight other Asian countries and regions in July, which decreased 3.6% year on year from 362,400 TEUs. This year, its container trade continued to decrease for four consecutive months from February, came back to grow 10% in June and turned down again in July.

Exports from South Korea waned 2% to 174,600 TEUs and have remained on the decline for 11 month running, or since September 2021. Meanwhile, imports slid 5% to 176,000 TEUs, having stayed on a downward trend for seven months in a row, since January, showing the nation's exports and imports have both been sluggish for months now.

In January-July, South Korea exported and imported 2,338,100 TEUs in total, down 4.1% from 2,437,800 TEUs. Exports fell 6% to 1,172,300 TEUs, and imports, 2% to 1,165,800 TEUs.
