A total of 1,900,614 TEUs of containers were traded between South Korea and China in January-July, which shrank 4.09% from the same seven months of last year, according to the Yellow Sea Liner Shipping Council (YSLSC). Exports and imports moved on the route accounted for 1,791,060 TEUs, down 3.07%, while those carried in feeder services plunged more severely, going down 18.17% to 109,554 TEUs.
Container exports from South Korea to China decreased 2.56% to 715,736 TEUs, including 666,964 TEUs traded between the countries, down 1.34%, and 48,772 TEUs in feeder services, down 16.58%. Imports from China to South Korea, meanwhile, fell 4.99% to 1,184,878 TEUs, which consisted of 1,124,096 TEUs of imports, down 4.07%, and 60,782 TEUs of feeder containers, down 19.4%.
Looking at inbound containers from Chinese ports, 452,583 TEUs were from Shanghai, down 15.15%; 326,626 TEUs from Qingdao, down 4.92%; 208,457 TEUs from Ningbo, down 13.11%; 215,461 TEUs from Xingang, down 13.69%; and 109,836 TEUs from Dalian, down 3.62%.
