The Port of Tokyo processed 269,129 TEUs of loaded oceangoing containers in April, which went down 7.0% from a year earlier, according to preliminary statistics compiled by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government (TMG)'s Bureau of Port and Harbor. Exports decreased 6% to 79,767 TEUs, while imports were also sluggish, falling 7.3% to 189,362 TEUs. Empty containers almost stayed flat at 86,180 TEUs in total, up 0.1%. Including domestic containers, the port handled 288,963 TEUs of full containers, down 8%, and 111,275 TEUs of empties, down 0.6%.
