Chinese ports were operated smoothly and efficiency in May, the nation's transport ministry said earlier this month. The 11 international hub ports handled a total of 17.76 million TEUs of containers, which increased 5.2% from a year earlier, due to stable supply chains. Oceangoing freight rates, on the other hand, decreased for most services.

The total volume of shipments processed at the major under-monitoring ports amounted to 1.03 billion tons, which shrank 0.7% year on year but rose 3.2% on daily average. Containers totaled 23.08 million TEUs, up 4.2% from a year earlier and up 4.4% on daily average.
