The combined volume of containerized shipments handled at Japan's six major ports (Tokyo, Kawasaki, Yokohama, Nagoya, Osaka and Kobe) in March shrank a minute 0.5% to 1,203,060 TEUs, incurring a year-on-year contraction for two months in a row, according to preliminary statistics compiled by the nation's Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT). Exports decreased 1.6% to 590,205 TEUs, but imports increased 0.5% to 612,855 TEUs.
