The U.S. port of Savannah handled 495,782 TEUs of containers last month, up 6.2% from a year earlier. It was a record for the month of April and the Georgia Ports Authority’s third busiest month ever. Loaded imports swelled 4.5% to 247,177 TEUs, while exports of full containers rose 2.3% to 125,330 TEUs. Empties totaled 101,950 TEUs, up 20.9%. Accumulated throughput from July 2021 to April 2022 was 4.75 million TEUs, up 8%.
