Shanghai has gone into a new lockdown in the Pudong New Area to contain Covid-19 outbreak, creating concerns over supply chain disruption. Residents of these districts are required to stay within their neighborhood. All enterprises and factories have suspended business activities and production since their employees are working from home, except for those who are involved in essential services and food supply.

Shanghai International Port Group has said it provides 24-hour services at its all port terminals. Nevertheless, the lockdown is giving rise to concerns of supply chain disruptions as it could affect the movement of port workers and cargo operations there. The backlog at the port, which is already high, is expected to increase even more in the coming days.

The new lockdown could also affect key business areas including the Pudong International Airport and Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport.
