The Port of Osaka handled 191,660 TEUs of loaded and unloaded containers in total in January, up 16% from the corresponding month of 2021, according to a preliminary report unveiled by the Osaka Ports and Harbors Bureau. Exports and imports both marked double-digit improvements, surging 21% to 85,749 TEUs and 12% to 105,911 TEUs, respectively. As for full containers, 26,276 TEUs were exported, down 6%, and 104,853 TEUs were imported, up 13%, for a total of 131,129 TEUs, up 9%. Exports and imports of empty containers totaled 60,531 TEUs, up 35%.
