The Port of Kobe handled 192,007 TEUs of loaded and empty oceangoing containers in December of last year, up 7.4% from the corresponding month of 2020, according to preliminary statistics unveiled by the Kobe City Government’s Port and Harbor Bureau. More specifically, exports accounted for 102,793 TEUs, up 4.5%, while imports enjoyed a double-digit increase of 10.8% to total 89,214 TEUs.

On a full-year scale, Kobe processed 2,143,085 TEUs of international shipments in 2021, up 5% from the previous calendar year. Exports and imports were both brisk, growing 6% to 1,146,429 TEUs and 4% to 996,656 TEUs, respectively.
