Total volume of containerized shipments moved directly and via transshipment between South Korea and Japan in January-November 2021 amounted to 1,620,823 TEUs, which grew 1.8% year on year, according to the Korea Nearsea Freight Conference (KNFC).
Focusing on direct shipments, exports from South Korea to Japan shrank 0.4% to 913,444 TEUs; in contrast, imports from Japan to South Korea improved 4.8% to 707,379 TEUs. Containers from South Korea to Japan continued to fall from early 2021 while those from Japan to Korea has maintained a positive growth.
