On the trade from Shanghai to Europe, transport demand was stable in Week 43, improving spot rates by 0.8% to $7,693 per TEU, which was growth from the previous term for three weeks in a row. Container traffic to the Mediterranean was steady, but freight rates edged down 0.3% to $7,315 per TEU.

The balance between supply and demand remained tight on the route to North America due to congestions, backlogged containers and poor delivery efficiency at U.S. ports. As such, spot rates only increased a minute 0.1% to $10,454 per FEU for exports to the east coast and 1.1% to $6,414 per FEU for those to the west coast.
