Phnom Penh Autonomous Port (PPAP) has officially opened its new container terminal, upgrading its handling capacity to 400,000 TEUs per year.

The new USD18.4 million terminal covers an area of 2.75 hectares with a container handling capacity of 100,000 TEUs per annum.

The PPAP completed the first and second phases of its container terminal expansion project since 2012, by increasing the handling capacity to 300,000 TEUs per year.

In 2019, the PPAP handled some 290,000 boxes. In response to the increasing volume, the river port will launch in 2022 a new expansion project which would upgrade its capacity to 500,000 TEUs per year.
