Containerized shipments traded between South Korea and China increased 11% year on year to 305,100 TEUs in April, marking a double-digit improvement for four consecutive months since January, according to data compiled by the Yellow Sea Liner Shipping Council (YSLSC).

Exports from South Korea to China grew 16% to 101,400 TEUs, while imports from China to South Korea also accomplished a rise of over 10%; more precisely, they swelled 11% to 185,100 TEUs. In contrast, containers moved between the countries in feeder operations fell 11% to 18,600 TEUs, suffering their first year-on-year contraction in two months.

In the first four months (January-April), a total of 1,120,600 TEUs were traded on the route, up 17% year on year from 1,044,800 TEUs. Exports from South Korea to China accounted for 385,100 TEUs, up 15%, and imports from China to South Korea, 659,700 TEUs, up 20%. Containers moved in feeder transport totaled 75,700 TEUs, up 4%.
