The Port of Nagoya handled a total of 225,665 TEUs of loaded/unloaded export/import containers in April, which increased 6.8% from a year earlier and enjoyed a year-on-year improvement for the third month in a row since February, according to preliminary statistics unveiled by the Nagoya Port Authority (NPA).

Turning to performances at individual terminals, throughput went down at Tobishima Pier North and South container terminals, which shrank 3.4% to 8,433 TEUs and 1.3% to 20,269 TEUs, respectively. On the other hand, all of the other terminals did well. In particular, double-digit growth was registered at NCB and Tobishima Pier South Side container terminals, where volumes surged 13.6% to 43,157 TEUs and 18.2% to 51,162 TEUs, respectively. Nabeta Pier Container Terminal handled 102,644 TEUs, which swelled 1.8%.
