A total of 283,600 TEUs of containers were traded between South Korea and Japan in January-February, swelling 1% from the 281,400 TEUs moved on the route in the corresponding two months of 2020, according to statistics compiled by the Korea Nearsea Freight Conference (KNFC). As for shipments carried locally between the economies, those from South Korea accounted for 54,300 TEUs, down 4%, and those to South Korea, 49,800 TEUs, up 9%. Meanwhile, the remaining 179,500 TEUs were transshipment (T/S) containers, up 0.1%.
