The Port of Osaka handled a total of 192,936 TEUs of loaded and empty oceangoing containers in October, which rose 3% from a year earlier and accomplished its first year-on-year improvement in two months, according to preliminary statistics compiled by the city of Osaka’s Port and Harbor Bureau.

Exports from Osaka enjoyed a double-digit increase of 12% to amount to 94,454 TEUs, including 37,979 TEUs of full containers, up 10%. Its imports, on the other hand, fell 4% to 98,482 TEUs, of which 95,650 TEUs were loaded, down 4%. Full containers, as such, totaled 133,629 TEUs, which remained nearly unchanged. Meanwhile, empties accounted for 59,307 TEUs, up 13%.
