On the trade from Japan to China, 879,553 tons of containerized shipments were traded in August, according to the Japan Maritime Center (JMC). Thanks to growth in wood pulp, raw materials for plastic and others, the route enjoyed a notable improvement of 15.3% and a year-on-year increase for two back-to-back months. In terms of value, they amounted to JPY658.4 billion, up 4.1%, which also marked a year-on-year augmentation for two months in a row.

Referring to trade statistics from the Ministry of Finance (MOF), the JMC indicated that imports from China to Japan, on the other hand, plunged 10.8% to 1,458,953 tons, suffering a year-on-year contraction for four months running. On a value scale, they shrank 8.5% to JPY962.2 billion, which decreased year on year for two consecutive months.
