The Port of Osaka handled 174,096 TEUs of oceangoing containers in August, up 1% from a year earlier, coming back from the year-on-year decrease that it incurred in the previous month.

As for loaded containers, 30,061 TEUs were exported, down 7%, and 87,497 TEUs were exported, down 6%, for a total of 117,558 TEUs, down 6%. Meanwhile, empty containers numbered 56,538 TEUs in total, up 23%.

In the first eight months (January-August), Osaka processed a total of 1,358,276 TEUs, down 3%. Exports of full containers accounted for 247,799 TEUs, down 9%, and imports, 716,857 TEUs, down 4%, for a total of 964,656 TEUs, down 5%. The total of empty container exports and imports amounted to 393,620 TEUs, up 3%.
