Containerized shipments traded between South Korea and China increased 9.3% to 278,300 TEUs in August, according to statistics complied by the Yellow Sea Liner Shipping Council (YSLSC). They swelled from the 254,700 TEUs hauled a year earlier and registered a year-on-year improvement for six months in a row from March. As for those moved directly on the route, South Korea exported 97,800 TEUs, up 7.2%, and imported 150,700 TEUs, up 6.4%. Feeder containers enjoyed a double-digit improvement, jumping 36.8% to 29,800 TEUs.
By port of destination in China, 75,200 TEUs were transported to Shanghai, up 11; 40,900 TEUs to Tianjin, up 9%; 40,000 TEUs to Qingdao, up 3%; 27,200 TEUs to Ningbo, up 29%; and 17,100 TEUs to Dalian, up 4%.
