Shanghai port handled 3.84 million TEUs in August, up 2.1% compared to the year-ago period, according to Shanghai International Port Group (SIPG).?The figure is the third largest volume for the port, following the previous month's 3.90 million TEUs and 3.86 million TEU for July 2019. In the first eight months, the world's busiest container port recorded throughput of 27.80 million TEUs, down 4.6% compared to the same period last year.

Singapore port terminals handled 3.17 million TEUs in August, up 1.3% from a year earlier after minus growth for four months running, according to data from the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore. In the first eight months, box throughput fell 1.5% from the same period in 2019 to 24.03 million TEUs.

In Hong Kong, uptrend of the volume of containerized traffic returned to decrease having been handled more than 1.5 million TEUs, with a decline of 3.1%, according to Hong Kong Maritime and Port Board. In the first eight months of 2020, the port has posted a total of 11,75 million TEUs, with a decrease of 4,0% on the January-August period last year.
