Container traffic between South Korea and eight other Asian countries and territories decreased 3.5% year on year from 341,600 TEUs to 329,600 TEUs in July. South Korea exported 167,700 TEUs, down 4.9%, and imported 162,000 TEUs, down 2%.

By trade partner, 43,300 TEUs were traded to and from Thailand, down 14%, incurring a double-digit contraction for two back-to-back months. Containers to and from Vietnam were also sluggish, shrinking 5% to 96,400 TEUs. Those to and from Malaysia fell 6% to 41,700 TEUs. Ranked fourth place were exports to and imports from Indonesia, which declined 4% to 40,200 TEUs. Those to and from the Philippines waned 2% to 20,500 TEUs. Containers to and from Singapore sank from a year earlier to 18,000 TEUs.

In contrast, containerized shipments moved to and from Taiwan and Hong Kong were both brisk, improving 11% to 39,300 TEUs and 8% to 30,000 TEUs, respectively.
