Hong Kong Port saw increased container volumes in July again following the previous month.

The port recorded 1.601 million TEUs handled in July, a 3.3% increase compared to the same month last year, according to the Hong Kong Maritime and Port Board. The Kwai Tsing Terminals witnessed throughput of 1.266 million TEUs or an increase of 7.2% compared to a year ago. Other terminals including Midstream and River Trade, however, saw box volumes fall 9.2% to 335,000 TEUs.

The cumulative throughput for the first seven months of 2020 is 10.247 million TEUs, down 3.7% compared to the same period of 2019. The decline reflects a 1.1% decrease in volumes for the Kwai Tsing Terminals and a 12.8% drop in container throughput for other terminals.
