Containers traded between South Korea and China in the first quarter (January-March) of 2020 amounted to 679,707 TEUs, down 5.06% year on year, according to statistics compiled by the Yellow Sea Liner Shipping Council (YSLSC). Local containers accounted for 627,822 TEUs, down 4.99%, and feeder containers, 51,835 TEUs, down 5.94%.

South Korea exported 262,248 TEUs to China, down 2.21%. Local cargo decreased a minute 0.62% to 246,394 TEUs, while feeder cargo plunged a much more significant 21.4% to 15,854 TEUs. Meanwhile, imports to South Korea from China fell 6.77% to 417,459 TEUs. Local containers diminished 7.61% to 381,478 TEUs, but feeder containers swelled 3.17% to 35,981 TEUs.
