Taiwan’s Big Four international ports handled a total of 15,298,285 TEUs of containers in 2019, decreasing 0.15% from the previous year’s 15,321,722 TEUs, according to statistics compiled by the Ministry of Transportation and Communications (MOTC).

Looking at volumes at individual ports, Taichung was the only one to enjoy a year-on-year improvement. More specifically, Kaohsiung processed 10,428,634 TEUs, down 0.16%; Taichung, 1,793,966 TEUs, up 2.86%; Taipei, 1,620,392 TEUs, down 2.39%; and Keelung, 1,455,293 TEUs, down 1.14%.
