Container exports from Japan to China plunged 15.7% to 856,699 tons in October, suffering a year-on-year contraction for eight months in a row, according to statistics compiled by the Japan Maritime Center (JMC) with trade data from the Ministry of Finance (MOF). In terms of value, they decreased 8.4% to 719.6 billionyen, which also declined eight consecutive months.

Meanwhile, imports from China to Japan sank 10.1% to 1,740,904 tons, incurring the year-on-year shrinkage in two months. On a value scale, they diminished 15.4% to 1.076 trillion yen, falling from a year earlier for three months running.
