The Port of Kitakyushu handled 271,003 TEUs of containerized shipments (international and domestic) in the first half (January-June) of 2019, up 1.5% year on year. Growth was registered in both exports and imports, which improved 2.6% to 121,670 TEUs and 1.9% to 118,690 TEUs, respectively.
On a tonnage scale, they amounted to 49,169,117 tons, down 1.6%. International containers accounted for 15,510,222 tons, down 6.2%, which consisted of 3,709,984 tons of exports, up 2.4%, and 1,180,238 tons of imports, down 8.6%.
