According to statistics compiled by the Yellow Sea Liner Shipping Council (YSLSC), 270,307 TEUs of containers were traded between South Korea and China, which went up 5% year on year. Exports from South Korea to China improved 0.8% to 94,310 TEUs, while imports from China to South Korea swelled 3.4% to 153,754 TEUs. Feeder containers moved between the economies surged 45.2% to 22,243 TEUs. Containers from South Korea to China fell 5.3% in January; came back dramatically in February, soaring 10.1%; remained on an upward trend in March-May and turn downward again in June, falling 1.7%.

In the first seven months (January-July), containers carried on the trade were brisk, climbing 6% to 1,804,913 TEUs. Those from South Korea increased 2.2% to 621,982 TEUs, and those to South Korea hiking 5% to 1.03 million TEUs. Feeder containers soared 47.6% to 146,100 TEUs.
