Customs and Tariff Bureau of Japan's Ministry of Finance and Australian Government Department of Immigration and Border Protection have signed a mutual recognition agreement (MRA) of Authorized Economic Operators (AEOs) in Brussels, Belgium.

The purpose of MRAs is to facilitate and secure Japan's trade flows with its trading partners, by mutually recognizing companies which have been accorded Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) status by their respective Customs Administrations.

Japan's other MRA partners include New Zealand, the U.S., Canada, South Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, China and Taiwan.
