The Shanghai Shipping Exchange's Shanghai Containerized Freight Index (SCFI) fell 2.7 percent to 756.88 last week from the previous Friday's reading of 778.00 to a reading of 703.67, as increases from Shanghai to the Europe trade was not enough to offset declines from Shanghai to the U.S. trades.

Spot rates from Shanghai to Europe rose 7.1 percent last week, from $717 per TEU to $768 per TEU, while spot rates from Shanghai to the Mediterranean remained roughly flat at $726 per TEU.

Meanwhile, spot rates from Shanghai to the U.S. West Coast tumbled 8.1 percent from the previous week to $1,442 per FEU, while spot rates from Shanghai to the U.S. East Coast rose slightly by 0.2 percent to $2,711 per FEU.
