Ocean Network Express (ONE) has announced that it moved a total of 6.583 million TEUs of containers on the trans-Pacific and Europe trades in the initial year since it was set up (April 2018-March 2019). On the trans-Pacific trade, outbound containers accounted for 2.664 million TEUs, while inbound containers totaled 1.141 million TEUs. Meanwhile, 1.687 million TEUs were carried to Europe, from which 1.091 million TEUs were transported.

Looking at container volumes and load factors on a six-month scale, 1.291 million TEUs were moved to North America in the first half, when the load factor was 82%. From North America, 502,000 TEUs were imported, while 33% of the available slots were occupied. In the second half, 1.374 million TEUs were exported in North America-bound services, which marked a load factor of 92%. From North America, 639,000 TEUs were transported, while 41% of the space was used. The second half saw higher container volumes and load factors in both directions.

Europe services handled 790,000 TEUs of outbound containers in April-September 2018, registering a load factor of 82%. When returning from Europe, they moved 457,000 TEUs, recording a load factor of 48%. In October 2018-March 2019, 92% of the slots were used to carry 897,000 TEUs to Europe, while imported containers amounted to 634,000 TEUs, while 41% of the space was occupied.

ONE, which was set up when Japan's Big Three shipping lines - Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK), Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) and Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha (''K'' Line) - consolidated their container businesses, operated a fleet of 217 container freighters, which boasted a combined capacity of 1.5 million TEUs. Thirty-eight units had hauling capacities of 10,000 TEUs or even more (e.g., six 20,190-TEU, 12 14,000-TEU, 10 13,900-TEU and 10 10,000-TEU containerships).
