The Shanghai Shipping Exchange's Shanghai Containerized Freight Index (SCFI) climbed 9.0% to a reading of 793.49 last Friday, as the supply-demand picture generally remained stable and shipping lines moved ahead on rate increases.
Spot rates from Shanghai to Europe fell 4.8% to $651 per TEU due to the staggering Brexit situation while spot rates from Shanghai to the Mediterranean dipped slightly by 1.0% to $725 per TEU.
Meanwhile, spot rates from Shanghai to the U.S. West Coast surged 22.3% to $1,626 per FEU, while spot rates from Shanghai to the U.S. East Coast also achieved a double-digit growth of 12.7% to $2,634 per FEU.
