The Port of Hong Kong saw throughput plunge 19.6% in February, to 1.137 million TEUs, representing a decline for 13 consecutive months, according to the Hong Kong Maritime and Port Board.
Throughput at the main Kwai Tsing terminals fell 16.4% to 947,000 TEUs. Loaded imports dropped 12.0% to 429,000 TEUs while loaded exports plummeted 17.9% to 401,000 TEUs. Empties stood at 117,000, down 25.5% year on year.
Boxes processed at non-Kwai Tsing terminals shrank 26.4% to 525,000 TEUs in February.
