The Shanghai Shipping Exchange's Shanghai Containerized Freight Index (SCFI) for the week ended on Friday, December 14 fell 1.5% percent since the previous Friday's reading of 861.55 to a reading of 848.65, representing a decline for six consecutive weeks.

Since the previous week, last week's spot rates from Shanghai to Europe rose 7.5% to reach $832 per TEU, while spot rates from Shanghai to the Mediterranean also increased 4.2% to $821 per TEU.

Meanwhile, spot rates from Shanghai to the U.S. West Coast tumbled 4.7 percent last week to $1,935 per FEU, while spot rates from Shanghai to the U.S. East Coast plunged 7.5 percent to $2,901 per FEU.
