Japan exported 122,704 secondhand vehicles (i.e., gas-powered passenger cars, cargo carriers and buses as well as electric cars) in October, growing 10.1% from a year earlier and posting the first year-on-year improvement in two months.

By destination, exports to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) declined 9.7% to 10,720 units, but managed to hold the largest share of the pie. Coming in second place, those to New Zealand suffered a double-digit contraction of 15.1% to amount to10,330 units. In contrast, those to Kenya jumped 45.1% to 9,306 units, finishing in third. Exports to Mongolia and Sri Lanka both increased notably, skyrocketing 93.4% to 6,182 units to rank seventh and 144.7% to 5,591 units to rank ninth, respectively. Those to Malaysia were also favorable, surging 40.2% to 2,393 units and coming in 14th.

Exports exceeded the one-million-unit line in the first 10 months (January-October), totaling 1,100,337 units in total, up 3.2%.
