South Korea's container exports to and imports from China totaled 276,234 TEUs in September, accomplishing a notable improvement of 14.5% from the 241,278 TEUs recorded a year earlier, according to data compiled by Yellow Sea Liner Shipping Council (YSLSC).

Container movement between the two Asian economies picked up dramatically from August, when it remained nearly unchanged year on year, only improving 0.1%. Outbound containers from South Korea soared 10.4% to 104,954 TEUs, posting a year-on-year improvement for six consecutive months, or since April. Incoming shipments from China were even more brisk, surging 17.2% to 171,280 TEUs. In the first nine months (January-September), as a result, the total of exports and imports was 2,209,313 TEUs, increasing 3.1%.
