Container exports from Japan to China remained nearly unchanged from a year earlier to 961,075 tons in August, according to a report the Japan Maritime Center (JMC) compiled from trade statistics provided by the Ministry of Finance (MOF). In terms of value, however, they improved 9% to \731.3 billion, marking a year-on-year increase for six months in a row.
Meanwhile, imports from China to Japan shrank 3.2% to 1,774,585 tons in August, incurring a year-on-year contraction for three months running. On a value scale, in contrast, they swelled 5.8% to \1.126 trillion, enjoying a year-on-year rise for the fifth consecutive month.
