The Shanghai Containerized Freight Index (SCFI) stood at 909.74 points last week, down 1.3% from the previous week, according to the Shanghai Shipping Exchange (SSE).

The container spot rate, which does not include terminal handling charges (THCs), for shipments from Shanghai to Europe declined by 7.2% to US$821 per TEU due to weaker demand, while services to and from the Mediterranean were provided at a sport rate of $821 per TEU, which represents a 2.1% slide from the previous week.

On the route to North America, spot rates for containers remained almost unchanged. The rate from Shanghai to the west coast was $2,349 per FEU, up 0.7% week on week and to the east coast, $3,512 per FEU, down 0.2% from the previous week.
