Taiwan’s Ministry of Transportation and Communications (MOTC) recently unveiled that 222,719 TEUs of containers were directly traded to and from China in July, enjoying a double-digit improvement of 11.86%. In the first seven months (January-July), however, containers on the route fell 1.21% to 1,447,317 TEUs.

Looking at container throughput in January-July at major ports in Taiwan, Kaohsiung handled 747,642 TEUs, down 5.3%, while 342,668 TEUs were processed at Keelung, up 4.94%. To and from Taichung, 300,613 TEUs were carried, up 2.78%, and Taipei exported and imported a total of 56,395 TEUs. down 10.24%.
