According to a half-year report released by the Regional Cooperation Agreement on Combating Piracy and Armed Robbery against Ships in Asia (ReCAAP) Information Sharing Centre (ISC), 40 incidents have been reported for the period from January to June 2018, marking 15% year-on-year decrease, and the lowest in number among 10-year period of January to June.

Of the 40 incidents reported, 37 (92%) were armed robbery against ships and three (8%) were piracy. This marks a 15% decrease compared to the same period in 2017 in the number of incidents reported. This is also the lowest number among the 10-year period (2009-2018) of January to June.
