Myanmar’s Deputy Minister for Planning and Finance U Set Aung and Tomoko Yoshihiro, Charge d’ Affaires ad interim of the Embassy of Japan in Myanmar signed and exchanged three agreements last week, under which Japan provides a total of 15.694 billion yen grant aid for Myanmar’s economic and social development plans.

Of the total, 6.033 billion yen is earmarked for the development of Mandalay Port, including construction of cargo terminals and mechanization of cargo handling facilities to enhance efficiency in logistics and inland waterway cargo traffic and contribute to the sustained economic growth of the country.
