Ports in China handled a total of 16.742 million TEUs of containers in February, which improved 8.9% year on year, according to the nation’s Ministry of Transport (MOT). Throughput grew at both coastal and inland river ports, which rose 9.6% to 14.986 million TEUs and 3.3% to 1.755 million TEUs, respectively.

In the first two months (January-February), 37.543 million TEUs were moved to and from China in total, which swelled 9.1%. Coastal ports were responsible for 33.56 million TEUs, up 9.2%, and inland river ports, the balance of 3.986 million TEUs, up 7.8%.
