The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) of Japan recently announced the ASEAN-Japan Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (AJCEP Agreement) took effect between Japan and Indonesia on March 1. Indonesia’s finance minister on Feb. 15 officially unveiled provisions to put the agreement in force, which were implemented on March 1.

Due to the implementation of the AJCEP Agreement, preferential tariff rates are now applied to trade between Japan and Indonesia. To issue certificates of origin (COs) for commodities of Japan origin that are exported to Indonesia, applications can be made on and after March 1 at the Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI).
