Annual cargo throughput at China's Ningbo-Zhoushan Port in East China's Zhejiang Province hit 1 billion tons in 2017, becoming the first port in the world to top a 1 billion-ton mark. The port has also retained the position as the world's busiest cargo port for the nine consecutive years.
Ningbo-Zhoushan Port has set a target of handling 1.25 billion tons of cargo and 30 million TEUs of containerized freight by 2020.
