The Yellow Sea Liners’ Committee (YSLC) recently unveiled that a total of 2,142,787 TEUs of local and feeder containers were moved between South Korea and China in the nine months from January to September this year, which increased 4.27% from a year earlier. Local containers accounted for 2,022,661 TEUs, which grew 5.37%. In contrast, feeder containers were sluggish, suffering a double-digit decrease of 11.36% to total 120,126 TEUs.

By route, containers from South Korea to China remained nearly unchanged, rising a minute 0.11% to 814,953 TEUs. In breakdown, 760,601 TEUs were local cargo, which swelled 0.4%, while the balance of 54,352 TEUs were feeder cargo, which fell 3.79%.

Meanwhile, South Korea imported 1,327,834 TEUs from China, which improved 7%. Local shipments hiked 8.61% to 1,262,060 TEUs, but feeder shipments plunged a notable 16.77% to 65,774 TEUs.
