Shanghai International Port (Group) Co. (SIPG) unveiled that container volumes at Shanghai port rose 2.3% on year to 2.59 million TEUs in February 2016, against 2.59 million TEUs in 2016. For the first two months, box throughput rose slightly by 1.1% on year to 5.95 million TEUs compared to 5.53 million TEUs in the corresponding period last year.
Meanwhile, the port of Singapore handled 2.3 million TEUs in February 2017, down 3.4% compared to 2.38 million TEUs posted in the same month last year. For the first two months, the port reported a total throughput of 4.92 million TEUs, representing a slight increase of 1% against 4.87 million TEUs achieved in the previous corresponding month.
