India's gateway container port Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust has said that it achieved an 8-fold rise in Direct Port Delivery (DPD) registrations in the month of January 2017 with registering 483 importers, against 60 in December 2016. With this spike in numbers, the total DPD registrations has expanded up to 543, JN Port has handled a total of 67,098 TEUs under DPD from April 2016 to January 2017, showing a growth of 19% over same period last year.

Performance-wise, Jawaharlal Nehru Port Container Terminal (JNPCT), the terminal owned by JN Port, handled 1,32, 772 TEUs in Jan 2017, witnessing a growth of 4.32% over same month last year. For the first ten months of FY 2016-17 (Apr-Jan), JNPCT handled a total of 1.30 million TEUs showing a growth of 10.36% over FY 2015-16 (Apr-Jan), whereas JN Port as whole handled 3,69,781 TEUs in January 2017.
