The Transpacific Stabilization Agreement (TSA) recently unveiled that its index for freight rates for west coast and inland point intermodal (IPI) services went up by 1.2 points to 76.44 points in October, suffering a decrease of 4.76 points from a year earlier, although registering a month-on-month improvement for the fourth consecutive month. The TSA Revenue Index, which sets June 2008 as its baseline of 100 points, for services destined to the east coast of North America and the Gulf Coast of the U.S. increased by 3.8 points to 67.75 points, but was down by 10.9 points from October 2015. Service suspensions resulting from the bankruptcy of Hanjin Shipping Co., Ltd. of South Korea in August notably decreased slots on services bound for both the east and west coasts, sharply rising spots freight rates for shipments from China. Container movement continued to be brisk in November, meaning the situation remained nearly unchanged. It is projected the TSA Revenue Index maintained positive growth in the month in question.
