Global container volumes totaled 13.022 million TEUs in July, up 2.5% over the same month last year, representing an increase for the five consecutive months, according to Container Trades Statistics (CTS).
In the first seven months, box traffic worldwide rose 3.3% year on year to 88.772 million TEUs.
In July outbound containerized shipments from Asia grew 5.0% from the corresponding month in 2015 to 7.539 million TEUs while inbound boxes expanded 7.6% from a year earlier to 5.219 million TEUs.
Containerized exports from Europe slightly fell by 1.1% on year to 2.188 million TEUs, suffering a decline for the fifth straight month, but imports into Europe climbed 1.8% to 2.527 million TEUs.
On the trades out of North America, outbound shipments waned 5.9% from a year before to 1.102 million TEUs and inbound containers also fell 0.2% on year to 2.168 million TEUs.
